Split

Split

just you, your reflexes, and the overwhelming belief that you were definitely faster.

Players: 2
Chaos level: ★★★★★
Perfect for: Siblings, best friends and anyone who says, "I'm actually really quick."

How to Play Spit

Set Up:

Split the deck evenly between both players.

Each player creates 5 table piles:

Pile 1 = 1 card (face up)
Pile 2 = 2 cards (top card face up)
Pile 3 = 3 cards (top card face up)
Pile 4 = 4 cards (top card face up)
Pile 5 = 5 cards (top card face up)

The remaining cards become your Spit Pile.

How to Play:

Both players flip one card from their Spit Pile into the centre at the same time.

From here, there are no turns.

Play as quickly as you can by placing the top card from any of your table piles onto either centre pile if it's one rank higher or one rank lower.

  • For example: A 6 can be played on a 5 or 7. Suits don't matter.

Whenever you reveal a face-down card, flip it over immediately.

If neither player can make a move, both flip a new card from their Spit Pile into the centre and continue.

Winning:

Short Version

The first player to clear all 5 table piles and shout "Spit!" wins the round.

First to 3 rounds wins the game.

Long Version

When someone clears their table piles, both players race to slap the smaller centre pile.

Each player keeps the pile they slap and uses those cards to set up the next round.

Keep playing until one player has no cards left in either their table piles or their Spit Pile.

Extra Rules:

  • If one of your table piles becomes empty, move the top card from another pile into the empty space.
  • Kings can be played on Aces, and Aces can be played on Kings.

Why We Love It

Spit starts as a card game.

Thirty seconds later, it's an endurance sport.

There's no time to overthink, bluff or plan your next move—just pure reflexes and controlled chaos.

The winner is usually the person who keeps their cool.

Or at least the person who can stop themselves from yelling, "I SAW THAT FIRST!" every round.
