Because Polish Poker has a funny way of making one tiny decision feel like it could change everything.
Spoiler: sometimes it does.
Players: 2–6
Chaos level: ★★★☆☆
Perfect for: Game nights, competitive friends and people who love a little strategy.
How to Play Polish Poker
Deal each player 6 cards face down, arranged in 3 rows of 2.
Place the remaining deck in the centre and turn the top card face up to start the discard pile.
Each player chooses 2 cards to turn face up.
Card Values:
- Ace = 1
- 2 = -2
- King = 0
- Jack & Queen = 10
- All other cards = Face value
On Your Turn
Choose one of the following:
- Draw a card from either the deck or the discard pile, then swap it with one of your cards. The swapped card is placed face up on the discard pile.
- Turn over one of your face-down cards.
Cards cannot be moved between rows.
Scoring:
- Each row scores the total of its two cards.
- Special rule: If both cards in a row are the same rank, that entire row scores 0—yes, even if they're two 2s.
Winning:
Once one player has all 6 cards face up, every other player gets one final turn.
Everyone adds together the totals of their three rows.
The lowest score wins.
Why We Love It
Polish Poker is for the people who can't resist saying, "One more round."
Every turn feels like a tiny gamble.
Do you flip an unknown card, or swap in the one staring at you from the discard pile?
Sometimes your bold move saves the game.
Sometimes it gives you two Queens in the same row.
Either way, it's the kind of game that's just strategic enough to keep everyone invested—and just unpredictable enough that anyone can win.
